Wanting to start a blog, I had absolutely no idea what to do, where to start, or how I could make money. After lots and lots of research, and a lot of trial and error, my blog is finally up and running. But, I will say it is a huge learning curve, and I will continue to update and improve where I can. I would like to share with you some of the resources that I use to keep this blog running in case any of you are thinking about starting a blog or just want to improve your existing one. I always like to share my knowledge, so that someone new will already have the information that I scrambled to find in the beginning.
Technology: First things first, you will need a great working computer that you can rely on. I personally have always used a Mac and love the way that they operate. I recently got an apple desktop, so that I have nice big screen to work on my blog from home. I kept my old computer, a laptop, which is great for traveling and working out and about. I would recommend a good size laptop, so that it can be functional on the go and at home. If I were to do it right, I would also use a nice camera to take my photos, but as of now I am using my phone for photos.
Hosting Company: Siteground. So far site ground has been great and setup was fairly easy. I use their online chat to ask immediate questions and to help trouble shoot. They are also reasonably priced and provide a few payment options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced bloggers.
Domain Provider: Namecheap. I used this program because it was inexpensive and I was able to purchase my own .com domain.
Blogging Platform: WordPress
Affiliate Marketing: Viglink
Email Marketing: Mailerlite
Social Media Scheduling: Tailwind
Graphic Design Software: Canva
Photo Editing: Snapseed app
Blog Photography: For my photos, I use a combination of photos I take and stock photos, which are free and easy to use. The stock photo websites that I am currently using are unsplash, negative space, kaboompics, stocksnap, pexels, and pixabay.
What resources do you use for your blog? I would love to hear any questions or suggestions you may have.
