Preparing for a trip is so important.  There is nothing worse than realizing you forgot something important at home, which unfortunately has happened to me many times.  Oops!

I think I can firmly say that traveling is my favorite activity ever and I hope that I can travel more and more as time goes on.  Through my experience traveling I have learned about a few items that are essential to every trip.  See below for some must have items for every vacation!

A Bag Weigher- This little tool has come in handy so many times and has been a complete lifesaver.  Use at home after you completed packing to check the weight of your suitcase and make sure it fits the airline guidelines.  But, most importantly you will need to pop this in your suitcase or carry-on so that after you’ve bought too many souvenirs to count, you can know for sure that your bag will be checked with no hiccups.

Packing Organizers- these genius bags will save space and keep any bag organized.  Use the smaller size for jewelry, lingerie, or swimsuits, and use the larger size to separate shirts and pants.  Sometimes I even put entire outfits into one organizer, so that I’m not stuck searching for that one shirt that goes with the pants I want to wear.  Another option for some fun patterned organizers are these.

Earplugs, Neck Pillow, and Eyemask- Wherever you are traveling, there will most likely be a time where you will have to force yourself to sleep somewhere other than a bed, whether it be the airplane, car, etc.  I find that having these essentials makes it a lot easier to get some zzz’s in.

Silcone Travel Bottles- To save space in your luggage and especially needed when not checking a bag, are some travel bottles for your toiletries.  I love to put my shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, etc. in these containers because there is no need to be lugging around full sized bath products, especially if you’re only gone for three days.  I prefer silicone bottles over plastic ones because they won’t break as easily and are fun to squish with your fingers!

Travel Wallets- Depending on where you will be traveling, you will need different forms of identification, currency, documents, etc.  I have found that having a travel wallet keeps everything in one place, organized, and makes it less likely I will misplace something. Fold-up Shopping Tote-  These reusable totes are great to throw in your purse or carry-on for those times when you are out shopping and don’t want to bring a bulky shopping bag.  I love to use these to visit markets or stores when traveling.  Buy the set or buy them individually here.

Compact Umbrella- You can never be too safe when it comes to the weather.  The forecast may have said clear skies, but now it’s pouring and you have no umbrella.  Why not throw a small umbrella in your bag, just to be on the safe side.

Portable Speakers- These are amazing and will come in handy more than you think.  Just plug in your phone or iPod and blast some tunes in your hotel room.  This is a great way to take whatever your preferred home audio system is with you on the go.  And you would be shocked how loud these can go.  Another option are these really nice Bose speakers.

Are you traveling out of the country?  Make sure you pack a Universal Adapter Plug, so that you don’t blow a fuse and so that you can use all of your favorite electronics while traveling.

Does your trip involve some car time?  Throw a car charger and auxiliary cord in your bag, so that you can keep your electronics charged and music flowing.

What are your traveling essentials that you absolutely MUST pack for every trip?
