Whether you’re in a relationship or single, Valentine’s Day can be a fun holiday to celebrate!  I have spent many Valentine’s Days alone, with friends, family and with a love interest.  Don’t just think that since you’re single, you can’t enjoy this holiday.

It is a day for love, no matter what kind!  The most important thing I’ve learned is that I enjoy it most when I’m surrounded by people.  You tend to start thinking too much and feel bad for yourself when you’re alone haha (or at least for me).

I would say that if you are going to spend the holiday alone, plan something special and go out and do something instead of sitting at home bored.  Trust me, it helps.

There are so many fun things you can do and I’d like to share my favorites with you.

Eat Something Sweet

You can do a variety of activities for this one.  Make your own dessert at home, indulge in dessert at dinner, or make it a fun activity by visiting a local ice cream parlor, pie shop, bakery, etc. and have fun picking something special out.

Local Finds:

If you’re in Seattle, visit Hot Cakes for some molten choclatey goodness or visit the Theo Chocolate factory tour to see where the magic happens.

Watch a Romantic Comedy or Drama

Why not celebrate the day right, by watching love on the big screen.  You may be in the mood for something to laugh about or a more serious movie that you might shed some tears for.  Either way, it is a fun way to bond with others or a nice activity to do alone.

Recommended:

Deadpool– If you want an action packed love story.

Date Night– A romantic comedy, where a night out goes wrong.

P.S. I Love You– This a great movie choice, if you want a blend of happy and sad.

Eat Some Bomb Food

This is my favorite, as my life revolves around food.  😉  Either make an elaborate dinner at home or go to that new restaurant you’ve been meaning to try.  Whichever you choose, make sure it’s special and unlike you’re typical dinner.  Maybe add some fun appetizers, like a cheese plate and/or drinks like pink champagne or a special cocktail.

My Suggestions:

For a night at home, make a dish that you’ve never made before or something fun to make with others (dress your own pizza or make homemade pasta from scratch).

If you are local, here are some romantic restaurant recommendations according to Thrillist.

Wear Something Sexy

Now I don’t want you to ignore this one if you’re single.  Whether you’re with your lover or at home alone watching movies, celebrate being alive and beautiful by wearing something special.  You deserve it!  Meaning if you don’t have someone to buy you lingerie, (& chocolates/flowers for that matter) buy it for yourself!!
